Joe Diffie Releases Family Cookbook

Trisha Yearwood is not the only country artist getting into the cookbook craze. Joe Diffie, the singer behind the '90s hits "Pickup Man" and "Ships That Don't Come In," recently released Homecoming: The Diffie Family Cookbook.

This 151-page volume is packed with favorite family recipes, like his cousin's Cherry O Cheese Pie or Joe's own recipe for Pistachio Toffee, which is just one of the appetizing foods Joe says he prepared over the recent holidays.

Like many foodies, Joe enjoys gleaning new culinary tips from television's finest chefs. "There’s a couple I like. I like Bobby Flay. I learned a lot from Rachael Ray and Emeril. Paula Dean actually reminds me of my mother a little bit. She uses lots of olive oil and butter," Joe says.

So does Joe have any ideas for a future cooking show of his own? "I’d love to do that," he admits. Still, he's cautious about the idea. "I’m always worried if I have the banter for it, you know? In fact, I think we’re planning on doing a couple of internet videos just to see how it goes. My manager said ‘Hey, fix one of the meals in your cookbook and I’ll come film it.’ So we might do that soon.”In the meantime, Homecoming: The Diffie Family Cookbook is available on Joe's website.
