Fall may bring tricks and treats, but ask any foodie what really thrills me in Autumn, and they'll let you know that this season is clearly for cookbooks. Yes, the leaves aren't the only thing dropping at a fever pitch. And the Pacific Northwest - Seattle in particular - has been scoring big when it comes to attracting food authors to town for readings and signings.
Last week, Celia Sack (author of Recipe Keeper and founder of Omnivore Books) and Marissa Guggiana (Primal Cuts and Off the Menu) rolled through town at Book Larder, Elliott Bay, and Tavolata - and this week holds plenty of treats, as well.
Don’t miss:
Christina Tosi, founder of the dessert program at Gotham's Momofuku restaurant, and chef/owner of the Momofuku Milk Bar is in town to talk about her restaurant's new release, which is chock full of solid recipes and "real talk" about how to make things work in your own kitchen. She''ll make a free appearance at Elliott Bay Books at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon and the Book Larder on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m, where pastry king Neil Robertson will be baking up samples (we're hoping for compost cookies) from the book. Get ticket information here . Word on the street is Elliott Bay will have snacks too. Crack pie anyone?
Also tomorrow, you can meet and greet Stephanie Izard (of Top Chef fame) as she debuts her Girl in the Kitchen Cookbook: How a Chef Cooks, Thinks, Shops, Eats & Drinks, from 11:00 a.m. until noon at Book Larder. The event is free to all.
Can't sneak off work? Tomorrow night, check out Stephanie's Gilt dinner at Canlis.
Adam Gopnik returns to Seattle on Friday, November 4 to talk about his latest book -The Table Comes First: Family, France, and the Meaning of Food which takes us into the dedicated and delicious food culture of France. Grab your $5 tickets at the door starting at 6:30 p.m. or online here.
Always wanted to attend one of the delightful but hard to snag an invite to Kurtwood Farm Dinners? Well, we can’t get you an invite to dinner (since they ended earlier this year) but we can clue you in to a wonderful opportunity to visit the home of the famous Dinah’s Cheese. Sunday, November 6 Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs of Food 52 will join Kurt down on the farm from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. to unveil the Food 52 Cookbook at an informal but sure to be exceptional Potluck. Tickets at Brown Paper Tickets .
